(Toronto, ON) March 29, 2023 – Oakville Hydro has been recognized for its commitment to excellence, receiving the Local Distribution Company (LDC) Performance Excellence Award from the Electricity Distributors Association at its annual awards gala.
“From leading industry collaboration, to championing a strong brand for health and safety and building a culture of innovation—our team is defining the utility of tomorrow,” shared Scott Mudie, Oakville Hydro’s EVP and Chief Energy Transformation Officer. “This award recognizes our team’s dedication to providing our customers with safe, reliable and sustainable electricity. They are the difference makers!”
Oakville Hydro was recognized for its comprehensive approach to employee safety and mental wellness, leading to the delivery of over 2,000,000 consecutive hours (over ten years) without a lost time injury; demonstrating strong service reliability, sustainability, and system performance; while providing innovative, customer-centric solutions and initiatives that support the community.
Paula Burgin, Oakville Hydro’s Director of Smart Grid and Field Operations added, “We’ve continued to invest in our grid by implementing automation and artificial intelligence to optimize service and performance. Today, we have one of the most pervasive distribution systems in the province with 24/7 automated and remotely controllable switches across the system.”
The LDC Performance Excellence Award is presented to a local electricity distribution utility member of the EDA which has distinguished itself among its peers by performance excellence in occupational health and safety, operations, finance, conservation, and contributions to the community.
