(Oakville, ON) March 24, 2025 –The Town of Oakville once again participated in the annual Earth Hour campaign, reducing energy consumption by approximately 10.3 MWh’s (5.1%). This is equivalent to the energy saved by turning off approximately 686,000 15-watt light bulbs for one hour.
"Earth Hour isn’t just about turning off the lights, it’s about coming together as a community to take meaningful action for a brighter, more sustainable future," said Jeff Mocha, Chief Operations and Electrification Officer at Oakville Hydro. "By engaging in this worldwide movement and making thoughtful actions, we’re actively advancing towards a more sustainable future. I want to extend my thanks to the community for their continued dedication."
This year’s participation in Earth Hour highlights Oakville's ongoing commitment to sustainability and its dedication to reducing the town's environmental impact. The collective effort of residents, businesses and local organizations is vital in driving meaningful change and fostering a future of energy conservation and environmental responsibility.
