MySafeWork: Rob Ellis and Jessica DiSabatino Receive Governor General Meritorious Service Cross Awards

(Oakville, ON) March 10, 2017 – Oakville Hydro would like to extend its sincere congratulations to Rob Ellis and Jessica DiSabatino on receiving Governor General Meritorious Service Cross Awards for their steadfast dedication in promoting workplace safety through their organization, MySafeWork.

“Anyone who has heard Rob and Jessica speak knows that their story is incredibly powerful,” said Rob Lister, President and CEO of Oakville Hydro.  “They speak about safety with a passion that is infectious and encourages immediate action to ensure we’re all working as safely as possible.”

The awards, which they received on March 9, acknowledge their strong leadership in championing workplace safety.

“Oakville Hydro has worked with Rob and Jessica for many years,” said Mike Brown, Chief Operating Officer at Oakville Hydro.  “Our top priority is Safety and we very much appreciate the opportunities to partner with them on safety awareness in the community we serve.”

At the age of 18, David Ellis was killed in a workplace accident.  He was given limited training and no supervision.  It was his second day on the job.  After David's death, Rob Ellis started MySafeWork, a not-for-profit organization and registered charity.
