Being prepared means being safe. Take the time to create a 72-hour emergency kit and ensure that you check it twice each year—a great reminder is when the clocks change. A short list of items to include in your emergency kit can be found below.

Basic Supplies

  • Non-perishable food and manual can opener
  • Bottled water
  • Flashlights and batteries (or wind-up)
  • Candles and matches lighters
  • Warm blankets and/or sleeping bags
  • Enough fuel in your vehicle to drive to safety
  • Prescription medications
Outage

First Aid Kit

  • Sterile gauze pads in small and large squares
  • Adhesive tape and bandages in assorted sizes
  • Scissors, tweezers and safety pins
  • Instant ice packs
  • Disposable non-latex gloves
  • Antiseptic wipes or soap
  • Thermometer
  • First aid manual

Know Your Home

Plug with two prongs.
Understand the various types of equipment in your home and how to protect them during a power outage.
