Oakville Earth Hour Results in Energy Savings

(Oakville, ON) March 26, 2018 – Oakville Hydro reports that during Earth Hour, the demand for electricity in the Town of Oakville was reduced by 3.2 per cent (5.9 MW), the equivalent of turning off 390,000 light bulbs. 

“Conserving energy is top of mind for many customers who are looking to combat climate change,” said Rob Lister, President and CEO of Oakville Hydro.  “Earth Hour is a reminder for all of us to consider other things we can do to make a difference in saving energy and continuing to build a ‘green’ town.”

“Every action we take – big or small – to conserve energy makes a positive difference on our community and the environment,” said Mayor Rob Burton.  “On behalf of Council, I want to thank all of our residents for their contribution not only during Earth Hour, but also throughout the year.  We encourage residents to continue finding ways to reduce their energy use in their daily lives.”
