(Oakville, ON) May 15, 2019 – Oakville Hydro is proud to receive the Canadian Electricity Association’s (CEA’s) Centre of Excellence Award for its innovative efforts on its Grid Intelligence Initiative.

“We are honoured to have received this distinguished award from the CEA and be included with a group of nominees who showcase the innovative thinking and creative problem solving that is taking place in organizations across Canada,” said Rob Lister, President and CEO of Oakville Hydro. “I’m proud of the team for once again demonstrating and leveraging these skills on enhancing our capabilities to manage our Grid with technology.”

This is Oakville Hydro’s second Centre of Excellence Award, previously winning in 2018 for its progressive work developing and implementing its Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).

Oakville Hydro’s 2019 submission involved implementation and application of a highly complex distributed grid intelligence for its electrical network.  Through advanced sensors, this network automatically responds to changing electrical grid conditions without manual intervention, restoring electricity to customers in seconds.
